I’m posting this from the WordPress Droid app, so I’ll admit that this post is really just to test out the app.

Though I will say that as an early adopter of portable devices (Palm 3, HP 540, my beloved iPaq…) that the Droid is the oh-my-gosh-where-have-you-been-all-my-digital-life device.

From the boundless apps, including the fascinating location-based stuff, to the simplicity of connecting to the office’s Exchange server, to the multimedia goodness… I love this thing!

Now, about the WordPress Droid app itself– mostly cool. Can’t add new categories from it. Tags, yes. Categories, no– you can only assign existing categories from mobile, not create new ones. Meh.

The thing is, the Droid’s Webkit-based browser is pretty full featured, and has no problems loading the administrative side of a WordPress site… so… why the bother with the app in the first place? Not so fast, Klause! The Droid browser experience isn’t perfect either– the property boxes on the right column of the post-editing page overlap the blog’s entry field, obscuring half of the blog-entry. Ah well. So until the app gets a little more oomph, it looks like blogging from the road sans laptop will be a combination of browser and WordPress app. Good thing I only blog once per millenium…
